"Korokī is a reference to birdsong and the role birds play in sowing the seeds for the future. When you use this app and the mātauranga contained therein, you are giving voice to the ancestors, mai i te korokoro o te koro, kai ki."

Welcome to Korokī, Environment Canterbury’s te Reo Māori app.
We’ve created this app to guide our staff in their journey learning important aspects of te reo Māori me ōna tikanga.
We’ve included information on te reo Māori (the Māori language), tikanga (customs), mātāpono me ngā uaratanga (principles and values), whakataukī (proverbs), waiata (songs), and karakia (incantations/ prayers), to support staff in their mahi (work) within the takiwa (tribal region of Ngāi Tahu) and throughout Aotearoa – Ki uta ki tai, “From the mountains to the sea.”
The Māori language is a national treasure to be shared and nurtured by all.
Arohatia te reo! Love the language! Manaakitia te reo rangatira! Cherish the language of chiefs!
