He kōrero matua mō Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei

Nā Taiaha Hawke rāua ko Tamsin Hanly

Keen to learn more about Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei’s history prior to the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi? Take a look at this new app telling the story.

The app is an interactive digital storybook with synchronised text and audio in both te Reo Māori and English, with the reader able to switch between languages.

It is the latest in a series of te Reo Māori materials created through Te Aho Ngārahu, which focuses on developing localised stories into curriculum resources to support ākonga and kaiako.

Resources for educators are available inside the app or can be downloaded from Rauemi Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei.

The app was blessed at a ceremony in Tāmaki Makaurau in February 2019.
